Learn to Draw 3 Cartoon Faces in 7 Simple Steps

Step 1. Nose

Want to draw a cartoon face then draw its nose 1st will give you a far easy drawing till the end. The reasons are that nose is almost the center of the face, not very much involved in the facial expressions of the toon.

1st Face: Draw quarter circle for nose

2nd Face: Draw quarter circle for nose

3rd Face: Draw quarter circle for nose

Step 2. Eyes

Eyes plays important role in the facial expression of a toon. We can give the change to the expression by giving a little change in eyes structure. Here you will experience three structures.

1st Face: Draw full circle eyes

2nd Face: Draw square for glasses on eyes

3rd Face: Draw semi circle on eyes

Step 3. Eyebrows

Same like eyes, eyebrows also change the facial expression like anger, wonder, sadness, happiness etc. Here are three styles of drawing eyebrows

1st Face: Draw straight lines for eyebrows

2nd Face: Draw semi circles for eyebrows

3rd Face: Draw thick lines for eyebrows

Step 4. Head

Personality of the character very much depends on its head. We can give an older or younger look to our toon character or by placing different types of caps.

1st Face: Draw semi circle for head with only side hair

2nd Face: Draw hair separating from center

3rd Face: Draw box for cap

Step 5. Face

Face represents the whole body structure. A narrow face will give the look to a weaker character where a broader one will give the look of a healthier one. Try to draw following three types.

1st Face: Draw semi circle for face

2nd Face: Draw squarish face with round chin

3rd Face: Draw "V" shaped face

Step 6. Mouth

Smiling, weeping, laughing, crying all such expressions directly depend on mouth and lips drawing. We can change the expressions of one character by only changing its mouth drawing.

1st Face: Draw simple smile

2nd Face: Draw mustache

3rd Face: Draw balloon shaped mouth

Step 7. Body

I am sorry about the full body drawing because we are here to learn how to draw faces in different ways. However I put a little detail to each character depending on face.
